Five Charged With Attempted Murder Following St Mary Street Stabbing
Five people have been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed during a serious assault in St Mary’s, Southampton.
The incident happened just after 8.45pm on Sunday, 14 December, in St Mary Street. A 45-year-old man from Southampton suffered stab wounds to his legs. Police said his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Following an investigation, detectives have charged Sheraz Ahmadzai, 24, of no fixed abode, and Irfan Ahmedzai, 19, of Kent Street, Southampton, along with a 17-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, all from Southampton.
All five have been charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and criminal damage. The 15-year-old has also been charged with possession of a bladed article.
They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (18 December).
Police said additional neighbourhood patrols have been taking place in the area since the incident and will continue in the coming days. Officers are urging anyone with concerns or information to speak to police.
