Surrey Man Jailed for Burglaries in Southampton and Hedge End

A 33 year old man from Surrey has been jailed for four and a half years after admitting to two burglaries and dangerous driving in Southampton.

Terry McDonagh, of Highdown Lane, Sutton, committed the break-ins on 10 April 2024.

At Southampton Crown Court on 30 July, he pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified. He was sentenced at the same court on Thursday 7 August to 54 months in prison, banned from driving for five years and five months, and ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge.

During the burglaries, McDonagh forced entry into a home on Mousehole Lane, Southampton, stealing expensive watches and jewellery. At a second property in Navigators Way, Hedge End, he took a Nike bag and gym equipment.

Later that day, he was seen driving a black Jaguar dangerously in the Southampton area despite being disqualified from driving.

PC Noora Abbasi, of the Western Area Crime Team, said burglary is “one of the most intrusive of crimes” and praised the tireless work of officers to bring McDonagh to justice. “This sentence should send out a strong message to would-be offenders,” added PC Abbasi.
