Appeal for Witnesses After Serious Assault in Chilworth Woodland
Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after a man in his 60s was seriously assaulted in woodland off Roman Road, Chilworth, earlier this week.
The incident occurred between 9.30am and 10.30am on Tuesday, 7 October, when the victim was attacked by two men described as being aged between 18 and 19.
According to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, the assault was unprovoked. The victim was punched several times in the body, face, and back of the head. One of the attackers is also believed to have been carrying a small blade, which was reportedly used during the assault, leaving the victim with a laceration to his shoulder.
Suspect Descriptions
Police have released descriptions of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident:
• First man: White, around 5ft 8ins tall, slim build, with brown hair swept to the right. He was wearing a black hooded top, light blue jeans, and lime green trainers.
• Second man: White, around 5ft 8ins tall, slim build, with brown hair, and wearing dark clothing.
Appeal for Information
Detectives are urging anyone who was in the Roman Road area at the time of the incident to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dash cam, mobile phone, or doorbell footage that could assist the investigation.
