Appeal for Witnesses After Man Suffers Fractured Skull in Netley Assault

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Netley earlier this month that left a man with a fractured skull.

The incident occurred between 2pm and 3pm on Monday 2 February on a lane off Hound Road, near the Church of St Mary the Virgin.

It is reported that a man in his 40s was approached by several men and assaulted. During the attack, one of the suspects is believed to have struck the victim on the head with a hammer.

The victim sustained a fractured skull and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area at the time, to come forward.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured footage of the assault or the moments leading up to it. This includes CCTV, doorbell camera, dash cam or mobile phone recordings.
