Murder investigation launched after man dies from gunshot wound in Coxford
An investigation is underway today after the death of a man at an address in Coxford.
Police were called at around 8pm last night (11 February) to a report that a man had suffered a gunshot wound at a property in Conifer Road.
Officers quickly attended and found a man in his 40s with serious injuries. Despite receiving treatment, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they are working to locate his family.
While at the address, a 31-year-old man from Southampton was arrested and taken into custody, where he remains today. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Investigations are continuing at the address this morning, and detectives will be in the area today conducting house-to-house enquiries as they work to piece together the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Clair Trueman, who is leading the investigation, said: “Any time you hear of an incident involving a gun, it will undoubtedly be of concern for local residents.
“Officers were quickly in attendance last night, and we have a man in custody today as we continue our investigation.
“We are working hard today to better understand what has occurred at the address, and to locate the family of the man who has died so that we can support them at what we know will be a difficult time.

Deputy district commander for Southampton, Chief Inspector Chris Douglas, added: “We have officers from our local policing team in the Coxford area, carrying out additional patrols and supporting the investigation today and this will continue in the coming days.
“Officers were quickly on the scene last night, and arrested a man in connection with this death.
