Man Charged After Poppy Appeal Collection Tin Theft

A 31 year old man from Southampton has been charged following the theft of a Poppy Appeal collection tin containing around £200.

Sean Johnathon Cooper, of no fixed abode, faces charges of theft and non-dwelling burglary with intent to steal.

The charges relate to the theft of the charity collection tin from Greyfriars Community Centre on Christchurch Road, Ringwood, on Sunday, 2 November, and a separate burglary at a business premises on Meeting House Lane, Ringwood, on Monday, 10 November.

Cooper is due to appear before Southampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday, 12 November).

The Poppy Appeal, run by the Royal British Legion, raises funds to support members of the Armed Forces community and their families.
