Suspect Detained After Shoplifting Incident in Eastleigh Town Centre
Officers from the Eastleigh Central Neighbourhood Policing Team were back on duty yesterday evening carrying out victim updates, gathering evidence, and supporting community events, with further patrols planned across the weekend.
Earlier in the day, PCSO Tom and PCSO Norbert responded to reports of a shoplifting incident at a local store in Eastleigh town centre. Following enquiries in the area, officers located and detained a suspect nearby a short time later.
A quantity of stolen goods, believed to have been taken from several town centre businesses, were recovered during the incident.
Police confirmed that the individual, described as a prolific offender from Southampton, has been reported for shoplifting and will now be dealt with in due course.
The neighbourhood team reiterated its commitment to tackling retail crime and supporting local businesses, stating that officers will continue high-visibility patrols throughout the weekend.
Members of the public are encouraged to approach officers while they are on patrol to raise any concerns or seek advice.
