Southampton Neighbourhood Teams Seize Bikes Linked to Serious Offences

Two suspects wanted for a series of serious offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for police, have been arrested following a joint operation by Southampton’s Neighbourhood Enforcement Teams (NET).

During a search of an address connected to the suspects, officers seized two motorbikes identified as being used in criminal activity across the Southampton area. The operation forms part of the city’s ongoing efforts to crack down on the illegal use of mopeds, motorcycles, and high-powered electric bikes such as Sur-Rons.

Police say the misuse of such vehicles has become a growing concern for communities, with reports of riders causing anti-social behaviour by riding recklessly in parks, on pavements, and through residential streets. These actions not only generate excessive noise and fear but also pose a significant danger to the public.

A spokesperson for the Southampton Neighbourhood Enforcement Team said the seizures represent an important step in addressing wider criminality:

“This may be seen as only a small win, maybe some of you could even see this as a waste of our time, but the illegal use of motorbikes go hand in hand with much more serious criminality.”

Police are urging residents to continue reporting incidents of illegal motorbike use, providing as much detail as possible — including descriptions or video footage of the vehicles involved.

Reports can be made via the Hampshire Constabulary website, through 101, or anonymously to Crimestoppers.
