Stabbing Near Winchester Station: Police Hunt Teenage Suspects
Police are appealing for witnesses after three men were assaulted near Winchester train station over the weekend, leaving two with stab wounds.
Officers were called at around 10.20pm on Saturday 12 July following reports of a serious assault on Stockbridge Road, close to the station. The victims, all 20 years old and from Winchester, had reportedly been involved in a verbal altercation with a group of teenagers while travelling on a train from Bournemouth earlier that evening.
It is believed that after both groups disembarked at Winchester, the group of teenagers followed the men and assaulted them on Stockbridge Road.
During the incident, two of the men sustained stab wounds — one suffering a cut to his head, the other an injury to his shoulder. Both were taken to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged. A third man sustained a facial injury that did not require hospitalisation.
Police say the suspects are described as four teenage boys and two girls, all believed to be around 16 or 17 years old.
Descriptions provided include:
• A white male, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, slim build, with light brown hair in a curtain style.
• A black male, around 5ft 10ins tall, slim build, with afro-style hair.
• A South Asian male, around 5ft 7ins tall, proportionate build, with curly black hair.
• Another white male, around 5ft 10ins, lanky build, with blonde hair featuring a short fringe and shaved sides.
• One girl was described as having blonde hair, the other as brunette.
An investigation is ongoing, and police are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the assault. Officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant dashcam footage from the Stockbridge Road or train station area around 10.20pm, to come forward.
They are also appealing to passengers who may have seen the verbal altercation on the train travelling from Bournemouth to London Waterloo.
