Police Seize Five Vehicles and Arrest Man in Crackdown on Nuisance Motorbikes in Weston

A major police operation led by Southampton East’s neighbourhood policing team has resulted in the seizure of five vehicles and the arrest of a man for drug driving, as officers targeted nuisance motorbike activity across Weston on Thursday night (3 July).

The coordinated effort, supported by Roads Policing officers and both on- and off-road motorcycle teams, aimed to tackle ongoing anti-social behaviour involving motorbikes and dangerous driving in the area. Officers patrolled roads, footpaths, and surrounding spaces as part of the operation.

During the evening:
• Two motorbikes and three cars were seized
• A 42 year old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and has since been released under investigation
• An e-bike rider was pursued and stopped, with a positive drugs search
• Numerous traffic offences were dealt with, including careless driving, use of mobile phones while driving, excessive window tints, and speeding

Inspector Louise Taylor, who oversaw the operation, said:

“We know from talking to local residents and people who visit the area, that this has been a considerable issue for them and one which we are committed to tackling.

“The information we receive from the public is so important, to ensure we can direct appropriate patrols and plan operations like the one we carried out. We’re grateful to the public for continuing to report these concerns to us.

“We want everyone to be able to feel safe, and not to have their local community blighted by issues like these. We will continue to carry out patrols, dealing with anyone using the roads in an anti-social and dangerous manner.”

The operation follows ongoing concerns raised by residents about reckless driving, illegal vehicles, and disruption caused by motorbike riders in Weston and surrounding neighbourhoods. Police have reiterated their commitment to addressing these issues and encouraged members of the public to continue reporting incidents.
