Southampton Gears Up for a Busy Weekend of Events and Travel

Southampton is set for a packed weekend as residents and visitors prepare for a mix of commemorations, entertainment, and transport activity.

On Sunday, 9 November, the city will mark Remembrance Sunday with its annual Service and Parade. Residents are encouraged to attend to honour those who have served the nation. 

Ahead of the weekend, excitement is building for the Southampton Firework Festival, taking place on Saturday, 8 November at Mayflower Park. The festival is one of the largest on the South Coast and promises a spectacular display for attendees. 

Football fans heading to the city centre for the Southampton FC home game against Sheffield Wednesday can take advantage of new and existing Park & Ride services. The PR2 service will operate specifically on home matchdays, while the weekend PR1 service runs from the M271 to the city centre.

Transport is expected to be particularly busy as the city welcomes several cruise ships, and Red Funnel anticipates above-average passenger numbers on Friday.

Bus users can also benefit from the national single fare cap and £1 evening fares in Southampton. The Park & Ride services offer a convenient alternative for weekend travel.
