Man Jailed for Throwing Bag of Excrement at Prison Officers
A man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after hurling a bag of excrement at two prison officers during an incident at HMP Winchester.
Kirk Marchbank, 53, formerly of Glanville Road, Brixton, was convicted at Salisbury Crown Court on Monday, 6 October, following a two-day trial.
The court heard that the incident took place around midday on 26 January 2024. Marchbank, who was in the prison’s exercise yard at the time, refused to return to his cell. When two prison officers attempted to engage with him, he threw a bag filled with faeces in their direction.
The bag struck the wall behind the officers and exploded, causing the contents to splatter onto their backs.
Marchbank had been released from prison in 2024 but was prosecuted for the January assault later that year.
He was found guilty of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
