Parents Warned About Unsafe App Linked to Roblox Pop-Ups
Parents and guardians have been warned about a pop-up message appearing within the popular online game Roblox, which encourages children to download an external app called Pollybuzz (sometimes displayed as Pollyfuzz).
The app initially appears harmless, asking simple questions and creating an AI “friend,” but reports indicate that after initial use it can display extremely inappropriate and unsafe content, including references to suicide, self-harm, and pornography.
Authorities and child safety experts are urging parents to speak with their children about the risks of downloading apps or clicking on pop-ups while gaming. Children are advised to report anything online that makes them feel worried, confused, or uncomfortable to a trusted adult immediately.
Roblox provides parental control settings designed to help reduce these risks. Guidance on setting these controls can be found on the Roblox Support website. Experts caution, however, that parental controls may not block all pop-ups, meaning ongoing supervision and open discussions about online safety remain essential.
