Man Injured in Blade Attack in Winchester City Centre – Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 20s was assaulted with a bladed weapon in Winchester city centre in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called at around 12.10am to reports of an assault at Staple Gardens. Upon arrival, officers located the injured man nearby in St Michaels Gardens, suffering from wounds to his arm and hand.
He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
As part of their investigation, police have arrested a 24 year old man from Winchester on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm (GBH). He remains in custody as enquiries continue.
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that several lines of enquiry have already been pursued but are now urging members of the public to come forward with any further information.
Officers are particularly keen to speak with anyone who was in the Staple Gardens or St Michaels Gardens area at the time and may have seen or heard anything unusual.
