Appeal for witnesses after fatal fail-to-stop collision in Sholing

Police are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage following a fatal fail-to-stop collision in Sholing, Southampton.

Officers were called at 7.27am today (Wednesday, 21 January) to Butts Road in Sholing, near the junction with Crest Way, after an elderly man was found in the road with serious injuries.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment but later died.

Police believe that up to three vehicles may have been involved in the incident. These include two black cars travelling towards Portsmouth Road and a light blue car travelling towards Bursledon Road.

A road closure remains in place between Orpen Road and South East Road, and motorists are advised to avoid the area while enquiries continue.

Officers are working to identify the vehicles involved and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dash cam or CCTV footage from the area at the time, to come forward.
