Man Arrested After More Than 120 Parcels Seized in Bassett

Hampshire Police have arrested a 24-year-old man following the seizure of more than 120 parcels believed to have been stolen while he was working as a delivery driver in the Southampton area.

Officers began investigating last week after a delivery company raised concerns that a significant number of parcels were not reaching their intended recipients. Following initial enquiries, officers from the response team attended an address in the Bassett area during the early hours of this morning (22 December).

A large quantity of parcels was recovered from the address and has been taken to the police evidence store. The man, who is from Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of theft by an employee and remains in police custody at this time.

Officers have warned that it is unlikely the seized parcels will reach their intended recipients before Christmas. However, investigators will be working throughout the week to identify the original delivery addresses and return items where possible.
