Firefighters Battle Fierce Blaze at Langley Bungalow

A devastating fire ripped through a bungalow in Langley near Blackfield in the early hours of this morning (2 August), leaving the property severely damaged.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after midnight, where they found the fire had taken hold at the rear of the bungalow and quickly spread to the roof.

Fire crews from Hardley, Hythe, Beaulieu, Redbridge, Totton and St Mary’s were deployed, supported by the incident command unit from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service HQ and an aerial ladder platform.

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation—one at the scene and another who was transported to hospital by paramedics.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using hose reel jets. Utilities to the home were isolated as part of the emergency response.

The bungalow’s roof was destroyed in the blaze, and the ground floor suffered extensive damage due to water used in the firefighting effort. Crews remained at the scene until around 5:30am to damp down remaining hotspots.

One fire crew later returned to the property to carry out a reinspection and conduct home fire safety visits at neighbouring homes.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
