Man Arrested After Knife Incident in Bevois Valley, Southampton

A man has been arrested following a knife incident in the Bevois Valley area of Southampton earlier this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Empress Road at around 12:48pm after reports that a man was threatening people with a knife.

Three individuals sustained injuries during the incident, although police have confirmed that none are believed to be seriously hurt.

Officers attended the scene and arrested a man in his 40s from the Cobbett Road area of Southampton. He has been taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently under police supervision as enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
“While our enquiries are at an early stage, we do not believe there is any wider risk to the community.
Officers will remain in the area this afternoon to carry out enquiries.”

Residents in the area are advised to approach any uniformed officers on patrol if they have concerns or information related to the incident.
