Police Appeal for Witnesses After Knife Incident in Bevois Valley, Southampton
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a knife incident in the Bevois Valley area of Southampton earlier today.
Police were called to Empress Road at 12.48pm this afternoon after reports that a man was threatening people with a knife. Emergency services attended the scene, where three individuals were found with injuries. None of the injuries are believed to be serious.
A man in his 40s from the Bitterne area was detained at the scene and is currently in police custody.
Officers have launched an investigation and are appealing to the public for information. They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam footage from the area at the time.
The suspect is described as:
• South Asian
• In his 40s
• Approximately 5ft 11ins tall
• Black hair and beard
• Wearing a red shirt and a navy blue jacket
Police believe a number of people were in the area during the incident and are urging witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
“We are in the early phases of the investigation which will seek to establish exactly what took place this afternoon. We do not believe there is any wider risk to the community. We understand there will be concern around this incident and officers will be in the area carrying out enquiries, please speak to them if you have any concerns or information.”
