Fire Crews Tackle Restaurant Blaze at Westquay in Southampton

Firefighters were called to a fire at the Red Dog Saloon restaurant in Westquay shopping centre on Wednesday, 9 July. The incident, which began shortly after 7:30pm, was quickly contained to the kitchen area of the premises.

Crews from St Mary’s, Hightown, Redbridge, Eastleigh, and Southsea fire stations attended the scene. Firefighters used three hose jets to bring the blaze under control, while ventilation fans were deployed to clear smoke from the building.

Emergency services remained on site for over an hour, with the official stop message recorded just after 9:00pm. No injuries have been reported.

The swift response prevented the fire from spreading further, and disruption to surrounding businesses within the shopping centre was minimised.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service thanked staff, shoppers, and members of the public for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
