Man Charged After Blade Attack in Winchester City Centre

A 24 year old man has been charged following a serious assault in Winchester city centre in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police were called at around 12.10am on Thursday, 7 August, after reports that a man had been attacked with a bladed weapon in Staple Gardens.

Emergency services found the victim, a man in his 20s, in nearby St Michaels Gardens with injuries to his arm and hand. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Following investigations, officers arrested Jack Britten, of Staple Gardens, Winchester. He has now been charged with wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

Britten has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (Friday, 8 August).
