BH Live to Take Over Management of Key Southampton Leisure Centres from September

Southampton City Council has announced that the management of four major leisure centres will transfer to BH Live from Monday, 1 September 2025. This move marks a significant change in the city’s leisure services, aiming to enhance facilities and improve service delivery across the board.

The leisure centres affected by the transition are:
• The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex
• Chamberlayne Leisure Centre
• Bitterne Leisure Centre
• The Outdoor Sports Centre

To ensure a smooth handover, current memberships with Places Leisure will remain active until Sunday, 31 August 2025. From Monday, all bookings, memberships, lessons, and payments will be managed directly by BH Live.

As part of the transition, The Quays, Bitterne, and Chamberlayne Leisure Centres will be temporarily closed on Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 September. The closures will allow BH Live to conduct mandatory staff training and carry out essential maintenance checks. These centres are scheduled to reopen as normal on Wednesday, 3 September.

A spokesperson for BH Live said, “Our priority is to provide you with continuity of service wherever possible and minimise any disruption.”

The Outdoor Sports Centre will remain open throughout the transition period.

BH Live has also published a list of frequently asked questions to support members during the handover. These are available on the BH Live website.
