Appeal for Witnesses After Cyclist Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run in Winchester
Police are appealing for witnesses following a fail-to-stop collision in Winchester that left a cyclist with serious injuries.
The incident occurred at around 11am on Tuesday, 26 August, on the B3330 North Walls. A man in his 50s was riding his bicycle downhill when he was struck by a car that failed to stop at the scene.
Emergency services attended, and the cyclist was treated for serious injuries to his ribs and back. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The vehicle involved is described as a cream-coloured car, similar in appearance to a Ford Fiesta. It is believed to be a 2007 registration, with the letter ‘H’ somewhere in the number plate.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who has relevant dash cam footage from the area at the time, to come forward.
Investigators are particularly keen to speak with the driver involved, who failed to remain at the scene. This was a serious collision and officers are asking anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to contact police.
