41-Year-Old Lymington Man Charged with Attempted Arson

A 41 year old man has been charged following a serious incident on Shrubbs Avenue in Lymington last weekend.

Robert Kevin Mackay, of Shrubbs Avenue, was arrested after police were called to a reported incident at a residential address on Sunday, 31 August. Following an investigation, Mackay has been charged with two offences: attempted arson with intent to endanger life, and attempted arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He appeared before Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 2 September, where the charges were formally presented. Magistrates remanded Mackay in custody ahead of his next scheduled court appearance.

He is due to appear at Southampton Crown Court on Monday, 29 September.

Hampshire Constabulary have not released further details about the nature of the incident.
