Witnesses Sought After Woman Assaulted in Southampton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Southampton on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 4:30pm on Monday 11 August on St Mary’s Street, between Clifford Road and Kingsland Square.

According to police, a woman was followed, struck on the head, and threatened with further violence after refusing to give money to another woman.

A 40 year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail while investigations continue. Officers have confirmed they are reviewing CCTV footage from the area as part of their enquiries.
