Witness Appeal After Serious Crash Closes A31 Near New Alresford

The A31 near New Alresford has reopened following a serious single-vehicle collision that took place earlier today (Saturday, 25 October).

Police were called to the scene at around 10.35am after receiving reports of a crash near the roundabout close to Whitehill Lane. Emergency services attended, and the road was closed in both directions between the Alresford Road roundabout and the Bishop’s Sutton Road roundabout while officers dealt with the incident.

The closure caused delays throughout the late morning and early afternoon, but the route has since been fully reopened, and traffic is now flowing as normal.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police thanked motorists for their patience while emergency crews worked at the scene.

“We appreciate the public’s understanding as we managed this incident,” the spokesperson said. “Officers would like to hear from any witnesses who were driving in the area at the time. Did you witness the incident, and do you have any dashcam footage which could help our enquiries?”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 44250483294, or report online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website.
