Hamble Man Arrested After Early-Morning Police Chase Ends Near Winchester
An 18 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of multiple driving and drug offences following a police pursuit through Winchester in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Officers spotted suspicious activity involving a blue Hyundai car on North Walls at around 2am on 23 October. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply and made off from the scene.
Police followed the car out of the city centre and onto the M3 northbound, where it was eventually brought to a stop near Dummer. The driver was located nearby shortly afterwards.
A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected Class A and Class B drugs, as well as more than £900 in cash. Officers seized the drugs, the cash, and the car as part of their investigation.
The man, from Hamble, was arrested on suspicion of:
• Dangerous driving
• Failing to stop when required by police
• Drug driving
• Possessing criminal property
• Being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs
• Being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs
He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
