Warning Issued Over Winter Fuel Payment Scam Targeting Residents

Hampshire Constabulary’s Fraud Safeguarding Team has issued an urgent warning to residents following a surge in scam attempts related to the Winter Fuel Payment.

According to local authorities, an increasing number of people are being contacted by individuals falsely claiming to be gathering personal details to facilitate Winter Fuel Payments. Officials have confirmed that these payments are automatic and that no application or information sharing is necessary.

“The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) already knows who is eligible based on their records,” said a spokesperson for the Fraud Safeguarding Team. “There is no need to respond to anyone claiming they need your personal or financial details for this purpose.”
