Cyclist Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run on Wimpson Lane – Appeal for Witnesses
Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a serious hit-and-run collision in Southampton that left a cyclist with significant injuries.
Officers were called to Wimpson Lane at around 11pm on Friday, 18 July, following reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a green Ford Ranger. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
The cyclist, a man in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated in hospital.
A 27 year old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries, with a return date set for 19 October.
Hampshire Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or seen either the cyclist or the green Ford Ranger shortly before the incident, to come forward. They are particularly interested in obtaining dash cam footage from drivers who were in the area at the time.
