Two More Charged After Ball Boy Injured in Portsmouth–Southampton Derby Incident
Two more people have been charged following an incident in which a ball boy was injured during the derby match between Portsmouth F.C. and Southampton F.C. earlier this year.
The match, played at Fratton Park in January, has been under investigation after a crutch was thrown from the stands and struck a 16-year-old ball boy. The teenager suffered a cut to his face.
Police say detectives have continued to investigate the incident since the game and have now brought further charges against two men.
Michael Wilson, 44, of Beedon Way, Eastleigh, has been charged with assault by beating and with throwing a missile onto a football playing area. He is due to appear before magistrates in Southampton Magistrates’ Court on 9 June.
In a separate charge linked to the same fixture, Taylor Rogers, 32, of Havant Road, Portsmouth, has been charged with going onto the playing area at a football match. He is scheduled to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on 23 April.
The investigation into the events surrounding the derby match remains ongoing.
