Teen Suffers Serious Injuries on Ride at Netley Marsh Steam Fair
An 18 year old woman has sustained potentially life-changing head injuries following an accident on a fairground ride at the Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show yesterday evening.
The incident occurred at around 10:45pm on Saturday, 26 July, when the woman reportedly became trapped on the “ShowTime” ride.
Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and fire crews, responded swiftly to the scene. Firefighters worked to free the woman from the structure before she was transported by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
As of Sunday (27 July), no further update has been issued regarding her condition.
Despite the severity of the incident, the event reopened for its third day this morning. In a statement posted to the event’s official Facebook page, organisers said:
“Good morning from day three of the show. Despite what you may have read or seen online, we are open and look forward to seeing you all!”
The Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show is a long-standing annual event, drawing thousands of visitors with its traditional steam engines, vintage attractions, and craft displays.
Authorities confirmed that a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is now underway.
