Two men convicted over burglary and theft spree in Lymington
Two men have been convicted after carrying out a series of thefts and burglaries in Lymington during the early hours of 5 August 2025.
Terrance Bryant, 40, and Luke Smith, 36, committed the offences over the course of around an hour, targeting vehicles and properties across the town.
The pair first stole two BMX bicycles from a van parked on Lymington High Street before attempting to break into a flat in St Thomas Street. They then tried unsuccessfully to force entry into a salon on Stanford Road.
Shortly afterwards, Smith stole a camera from a car before the two men went on to burgle a property in Tylers Close, where they stole cash and a bottle of gin. They fled the scene on the stolen bicycles.
Police were alerted and later located both men in Pennington, where officers found them in possession of the stolen gin.
Bryant, of no fixed abode, was charged with burglary, two counts of attempted burglary and theft from a motor vehicle. Smith, of Lagland Street, Poole, faced the same charges, along with an additional count of theft from a motor vehicle.
At earlier court hearings, Smith admitted all offences. Bryant admitted stealing the bicycles and one attempted burglary but denied the burglary and a second attempted burglary.
Following a trial at Southampton Crown Court, Bryant was found guilty of the remaining offences by a jury on Wednesday 28 January.
Both men have been remanded in custody and are due to be sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on 23 February.
