Two charged in Southampton murder investigation
Police have charged a man with murder following the death of an 18 year old man in Portswood.
Officers were called around 11.30pm on Wednesday 3 December to reports of an altercation taking place in Belmont Road. Emergency services arrived to find Henry Nowak, 18, with a puncture wound to his chest and two additional wounds to his leg. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation led by Hampshire Police Major Crime Team, officers have now charged Vickrum Digwa, of St Denys Road, Southampton, with murder.
The 22 year old man, who is British and of Asian ethnicity, has also been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Officers have also charged a woman in connection with this incident. Kiran Kaur, 52, of St Denys Road, Southampton, who is Indian and of Asian ethnicity, has been charged with assisting an offender.
Both are due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court today (Monday 8 December).
Police have confirmed that a 51 year old man, previously arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. A 26 year old man, initially arrested on suspicion of murder and later released with no further action for that offence, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a public order offence. He has also been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Officers remain in the area as enquiries continue and are urging anyone with information to contact Hampshire Police.
