‘Tis the Season in Southampton: City Set to Shine with Festive Fun for 2025
The countdown to Christmas in Southampton is officially on, as the city prepares to light up with a host of festive events and experiences for residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.
S&D Leisure is bringing back the much-loved Southampton Christmas Market, which will open with the Magic of Christmas event on Thursday 13 November from 4pm. The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Southampton and the Children’s Mayor will officially switch on the city’s Christmas lights at 8pm, marking the start of the celebrations.
Crowds can expect live performances from DJ Flash, street entertainers, and a spectacular new laser show projected onto the Bargate, all setting the scene for a truly magical festive season.
The Christmas Market will continue until Sunday 4 January 2026, featuring a wide range of stalls offering seasonal gifts, delicious food and drink, festive bars, dazzling lights, exciting rides, and entertainment for all ages.
Families are also invited to meet Father Christmas at Tudor House and Garden on weekends from Saturday 6 December to Monday 22 December. Alongside the magical meet-and-greet, there will be Christmas-themed crafts and activities taking place throughout December. From Saturday 29 November to Sunday 4 January, GO! Southampton will host a free festive walking trail through the city centre, complete with hidden QR codes at each stop that unlock exclusive discounts, rewards, and giveaways at local venues and independent retailers.
Over at Westquay, the ever-popular On Ice experience returns, inviting visitors to embrace the magic of winter with ice skating, shopping, and dining in a twinkling festive setting.
Meanwhile, the Mayflower Theatre will keep the Christmas spirit alive with the Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan, running from Saturday 13 December to Monday 5 January. Featuring a star-studded cast, the pantomime promises laughter, adventure, and classic Christmas cheer — a must-see for theatre lovers of all ages.

To make festive travel easier and more affordable, Southampton City Council, in partnership with Bluestar, will be reducing the cost of the Weekend Park & Ride to just £3 for up to five people per vehicle. The offer will run from Saturday 15 November until Sunday 4 January, helping families and friends enjoy the city sustainably throughout the Christmas season.
