Appeal for witnesses after pedestrian seriously injured in Linacre Road collision

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Southampton.

Officers were called at 5.43pm on Tuesday, 27 January, after reports of a collision on Linacre Road. The incident involved a black Volkswagen Beetle and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment for serious injuries.

The driver of the car, a 28-year-old man from Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash cam or CCTV footage from the area around the time of the incident, to come forward.
