Six Ponies Missing from New Forest – Suspected Theft
The public are being urged to remain vigilant following the suspected theft of six miniature Shetland ponies from the New Forest, as concern grows among the local community and the ponies’ owner.
The ponies disappeared from Cadnam and Bramshaw Commons within the past week. Hampshire Police are treating the case as a suspected theft and have issued Crime Reference Number 44250327194.
According to the owner, the missing ponies include six miniature Shetlands — one yearling and four three-year-olds — along with a rusty-coloured Appaloosa. Their descriptions are as follows:
• Three chestnut and white
• Two dark bay or brown and white
• One rusty Appaloosa
All of the Shetlands, except the chestnut and white yearling, are marked with a distinctive “TP” brand, identifying them as bred by the current owner. No female ponies with the TP brand are ever sold, leading to heightened concern that the animals may have been unlawfully taken.
Miniature Shetlands are incredibly easy to move, and these ponies could now be anywhere in the country. It’s vital that the public remains vigilant, especially at markets, sales, online listings, and in local fields where unfamiliar ponies appear.
Photographs of five of the missing ponies, along with an image of the TP brand, have been shared online in an appeal to the public for help. The owner is asking people to share the information widely in the hope of locating the ponies and ensuring their safe return.
Members of the public who may have seen the ponies or witnessed suspicious activity in the area is urged to come forward.
Anyone with information should contact Hampshire Police on 101, quoting crime reference 44250327194.
