Police Seek Owners of Suspected Stolen Power Tools Recovered in Romsey After Two Arrests

Police are appealing for help to identify the owners of several power tools recovered from a transit van in the Romsey area last week.

Officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary seized the tools during an operation on Thursday morning, 6 November, after stopping a vehicle believed to be linked to theft offences.

Among the recovered items were a STIHL chainsaw, a STIHL leaf blower, and a Husqvarna long-reach strimmer. Police believe the equipment may have been stolen and are keen to reunite them with their rightful owners.

Anyone who recognises the tools or believes they belong to them is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 44250501975. Reports can also be made online via the Constabulary’s website by visiting the “How to tell us about an existing case or report” page.

Following the discovery, officers arrested two people in connection with the incident. A 15 year old boy from Totton was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of duty.

A 24 year old man from Southampton was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, possession of a knife blade or sharply pointed article, common assault of an emergency worker, theft, using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress, and criminal damage.

Both suspects have since been released on conditional police bail while further enquiries continue.

Police are encouraging anyone with information about the tools or the incident to come forward to assist the investigation.
