Multiple Arrests After Police Seize Drugs, Cash and Weapons
Bargate Neighbourhood Policing Team has had a busy weekend tackling drug-related crime and keeping the community safe, with multiple arrests and large quantities of drugs and cash seized.
While on patrol in Nichols Road, officers noticed suspicious activity and stopped a man found with cash, several mobile phones, and a set of door keys. The man, already on bail for multiple drug offences and claiming to live in Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
A nearby address was later secured and searched by police, leading to the discovery of a large amount of suspected heroin and crack cocaine, along with scales, cling film, and other drug-supply items. The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and taken into custody.
Later that day, Bargate officers responded to reports of suspicious behaviour at a local hotel. A 17 year old male and an 18 year old female were detained under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. A search revealed around 30 individual bags of cannabis and a large quantity of cash.
Both were arrested — the male on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, and the female on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs. A search of a hotel room also uncovered a large Rambo-style knife, highlighting the risks associated with drug supply.
Working alongside colleagues from E-Shift at Southampton Central, officers later searched a property in the Polygon area, recovering more Class A and B drugs, thousands of pounds in cash, approximately 150 deal bags of cannabis, and around 100 suspected MDMA pills.
Police say these results represent “a huge amount of illegal drugs and money taken off our streets this weekend.”
On Sunday, local officers, including PC Bart, visited victims of serious crime to ensure they felt supported. On their way back, they stopped a suspicious male near Albion Towers. Checks revealed he was wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with Sex Offender Register requirements, and he was promptly arrested.
Bargate Neighbourhood Policing Team said they will continue to work hard to keep the community safe and thanked residents for continuing to share information that helps with ongoing investigations.
