Police Crack Down on Anti-Social Driving in Weston Parade Area
Date: 30 June, 2025
Teen Driver Issued Ticket and Section 59 Warning Following Resident Reports
Police have issued a warning to those involved in anti-social driving after an 18 year old male was stopped and ticketed this morning on International Way. The individual was handed a traffic ticket carrying three penalty points and a fine. Additionally, he was issued a Section 59 warning, meaning that if he is caught engaging in similar behaviour within the next 12 months, his vehicle could be seized and potentially destroyed.
This enforcement action follows a series of reports from local residents about persistent anti-social vehicle use in and around the Weston Parade area, often taking place during the early hours of the morning. Police say the disruptive behaviour is significantly affecting the quality of life for nearby residents.
“Although this may be seen by some as a “bit of fun” many local residents who live nearby are telling us otherwise,” said a spokesperson for the local neighbourhood policing team. “As a local neighbourhood team our priorities are based on reports from local residents, we have had so many around vehicle nuisance that this has now been discussed in Parliament.”
The police acknowledged that while some members of the public question the focus on such issues, tackling anti-social driving is a local priority driven by the volume of resident reports. They also stressed that other policing teams remain fully engaged in dealing with serious and high-priority crimes.
Officers are urging anyone affected by vehicle nuisance to continue reporting incidents by calling 101 or using the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Police website. They encouraged residents to provide specific dates, times, and descriptions to assist in identifying offenders.
