Man Flees Into Traffic to Escape Knife-Wielding Robber in Southampton

Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Southampton late on Sunday, 7 December.

Just before midnight, a 22 year old man was walking near the junction of Thornbury Avenue and Howard Road when he was approached by two men. The pair demanded money from him and, when the victim said he had none and tried to walk away, one of the men threatened him with a knife.

The victim fled into the road, forcing oncoming traffic to stop, before making his way to a nearby house for safety. Nothing was stolen during the incident, but the man sustained a minor injury to his cheek.

Officers have released a description of one of the men. He is described as white, aged between 25 and 30, around 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build, with a stubbly beard. He was wearing a large coat and a gold sovereign ring.

Police are urging anyone with information to get in touch by calling 101 or reporting online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website, quoting reference 44250551910.
