Man charged with murder after fatal shooting in Southampton

A man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting in the Coxford area of Southampton.

Officers were called at around 8pm on Wednesday 11 February to reports that a man had suffered a gunshot wound at a property in Conifer Road. Emergency services attended and found 45-year-old Piotr Pruszak with serious injuries.

Despite receiving treatment at the scene, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.

Following what police described as extensive enquiries, 31-year-old Marcin Buryta, of Conifer Road, has been charged with murder and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Southampton Magistrates Court on Monday 16 February.

Two other people — a 57-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman — have also been arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting aggravated burglary. They remain in custody while enquiries continue.

Police have said their investigation is ongoing and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
