Man charged following robbery at Southampton supermarket
A man has been charged after a robbery at a supermarket in Southampton, police have confirmed.
Officers were called to Asda on Millbrook Road West on Wednesday 21 January following reports that a man entered the store, filled a bag with various items and threatened staff before leaving without paying.
Police said the man threatened employees with a needle and a glass bottle during the incident.
Following enquiries, 38-year-old Stuart Andrew Westwood, of no fixed abode, was arrested and subsequently charged with robbery and threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place.
Westwood is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today (2 February).
