Man Charged After Car Driven at Police Officers in Freemantle
A man has been charged after a vehicle was driven at police officers in Freemantle during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident happened just before 12.30am on 25 January in Paynes Road, when officers attempted to stop a car while carrying out enquiries related to the search for a missing person. The vehicle was driven towards officers, causing damage to two police cars. No officers were injured.
Following further enquiries, police charged a man yesterday. David Shaun Clothier, 45, of no fixed abode, has been charged with three counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and three counts of criminal damage.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today, 26 January.
A 36-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking. She has since been released on bail while police enquiries continue.
