Man Arrested Amid Parcel Theft Reports in Test Valley and Winchester
A man has been arrested as part of an ongoing police investigation into nearly 100 reports of parcel thefts across the Test Valley and Winchester districts.
Between Sunday 31 August and Tuesday 23 September, Hampshire Constabulary received 98 reports from residents who said they were notified that parcels had been delivered — only to find nothing had arrived.
In many of the cases, recipients said the proof-of-delivery images did not show their property or were entirely blank. Some also reported that the GPS data provided by the delivery service indicated incorrect locations.
Officers have been conducting enquiries to determine whether the incidents are connected and whether any criminal offences have been committed. Police confirmed that they are liaising closely with the delivery company involved.
As part of the investigation, a 31 year old man from Swindon, Wiltshire, was arrested on suspicion of theft on Thursday 25 September. He has since been released from custody but remains under investigation while enquiries continue.
Police are urging anyone who believes they may have been affected by similar incidents to come forward.
