Driver Assaulted and Police Car Rammed in Southampton Road Rage Incident

Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road-related incident in Southampton last week that left two men with minor injuries and a police vehicle damaged.

The incident occurred at around 2:15pm on Friday, 26 September, on Firgrove Road, involving the drivers of a Ford Transit and a Mazda 6.

According to police, the driver of the Ford, a man in his 40s, was assaulted during the confrontation and sustained minor injuries. Following the assault, the Mazda was reportedly involved in a collision with the Ford Transit, causing significant damage, before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses report that the Mazda then left via Paynes Road, overtaking stationary traffic at the junction with Shirley Road.

Responding officers located the vehicle shortly afterwards. As they attempted to stop it, the Mazda collided with a police car twice before fleeing the scene once again. A police officer sustained minor injuries but remained on duty.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 20 and 30, of large build, with brown hair.

Police are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who was in the area at the time to come forward. In particular, they are appealing to drivers with dash cam footage that may have captured the events.
