Drink-Driver in Aston Martin Stopped After Motorway Incident Near Southampton

A driver has been arrested for drink driving after being spotted travelling at dangerously low speeds and displaying poor driving standards on the M3 link road towards the M27, near Southampton.

Police were alerted after the black Aston Martin DBX was seen moving at just 40mph, significantly below the speed limit, and forcing other motorists to take avoiding action.

Officers from Hampshire Roads Policing attempted to stop the vehicle using emergency lights and sirens, but the driver failed to respond, continuing along the motorway. Thanks to the swift actions of members of the public, officers were able to bring the vehicle to a safe stop at Junction 3 of the M27.

Upon being detained, the driver underwent a roadside breath test, which returned a reading of 96 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath – nearly three times the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Once in custody, the driver provided a further evidential sample of 111 micrograms.

The individual remains in police custody and will be held until they are sober enough for release, at which point they will face charges and a court appearance.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said:

“Drink driving is never worth the risk — it endangers lives and will always catch up with you.”

Drink driving is incredibly dangerous — it not only endangers lives but also carries serious legal consequences, including potential imprisonment, driving bans, and heavy fines.
