Appeal After Shoplifting and Assault at Fordingbridge Store

Police are appealing for information following a shoplifting and assault at the Co-op on High Street in Fordingbridge.

The incident is said to have taken place between 4.45pm and 4.50pm on Monday 19 January.

Officers have been told that a man and woman entered the store and stole approximately £100 worth of alcohol and meat. As they attempted to leave, it is reported that a member of staff challenged them, at which point the pair reportedly assaulted the employee before leaving the scene.

Police are now working to identify the individuals involved and have released images of a man and woman they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The woman officers would like to speak to is described as white, aged around 50, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, and was wearing a pink jacket with a fluffy hood trim at the time of the incident.

The man is described as white, aged around 50, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, with short grey thinning hair and of a large build.

It is understood the pair were accompanied by two teenage boys believed to be in their late teens.

Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are urging the individuals pictured, or anyone who recognises them, to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time is also asked to make contact.
