Unmarked Police Cars Target Anti-Social Drivers – Two Issued Warnings at Weston Shore
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Roads Policing officers have stepped up patrols to clamp down on anti-social driving following concerns raised by local residents.
Using unmarked vehicles, officers carried out targeted patrols across three locations on Friday evening (8 August) – Weston Shore, Centenary Quay in Woolston, and Hedge End – in partnership with Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
At Weston Shore, two motorists were issued Section 59 warnings for the manner of their driving. Under the Police Reform Act 2002, such a warning remains in force for 12 months; if either driver is caught committing a similar offence within that period, police can seize their vehicle immediately.
In Woolston and Hedge End, officers engaged with several drivers, but no offences were detected.
Police stressed the patrols are part of ongoing efforts to tackle behaviour that “causes distress to communities” and confirmed they will be returning to these locations in the future.
