Two Men Charged with Manslaughter Following Southampton City Centre Death
Two men have been charged with manslaughter following the death of a man in Southampton city centre just days before Christmas in 2023.
Abraham Cilliers, 48, died after an alleged altercation in the early hours of Friday 22 December 2023. Emergency services were called to the junction of Oxford Street and Bernard Street at around 12:40am, but despite efforts to save him, Mr Cilliers was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following a lengthy investigation by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, two men have now been charged in connection with his death.
Darren Anthony Carter, 62, of Rothbury Close, and Luke Carter, 37, of Lackford Avenue — both from Totton — have each been charged with manslaughter.
They are due to appear before Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 28 July.
