Teenager Jailed for Three Years After Stabbing in Hedge End

A teenage boy from Hedge End has been sentenced to three years in custody after stabbing a man in his 30s during an incident at a residential address in 2025.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing at a property on Alder Avenue, Hedge End, shortly after 11pm on Tuesday 29 April.

A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at the scene and later charged in connection with the attack. The teenager, now aged 16, was found guilty following a trial at Southampton Crown Court which took place between Tuesday 14 October and Friday 24 October.

He was sentenced at the same court on Monday 19 January.

The court heard that the boy was also found guilty of possession of an offensive weapon during the same incident. In addition to the custodial sentence, he was made subject to a 10-year restraining order, preventing him from having any contact with the victim.

Speaking after sentencing, Detective Sergeant Andrew Ferguson, of Eastleigh Criminal Investigation Department, said:

“This was an extremely serious assault, which mercifully did not result in a more tragic outcome for the victim.

“Thankfully, the victim continues to recover from his injuries and the boy responsible has been held accountable for his violent actions on the evening in question.

“I hope that this case sends a very clear message to others who wrongly believe they can act in such a violent manner within our communities.

“In short, you can’t. If you do, we will work relentlessly to do everything in our power to bring you before the courts, where you will ultimately face justice.

“I’d also like to place on record my thanks to all those who assisted and supported us throughout our investigation, enabling us to achieve this result at court.”
